Raised on a 3,200-acre farm in the foothills of Central Alabama, Vaughan draws lifelong inspiration from the woodlands, meadows, and mountaintops she grew up exploring.
After working in fashion design in New York City, Vaughan returned to her family’s land—now Pursell Farms—and began painting the wildlife and landscapes around her. Completely self-taught, she works primarily in watercolor and acrylic, recently experimenting with chiaroscuro to explore light and shadow in new ways.
Her work celebrates the upland lifestyle: textured, seasonal, and full of quiet connection. Installed across Pursell Farms and collected throughout the Southeast, Vaughan’s art offers what she calls “pockets of beauty”—an invitation to pause, reflect, and see creation anew.
