Born and raised in the New Orleans suburb of Gretna, Louisiana, Margaret draws inspiration from her cultural background.

Her childhood was shaped by a neighborhood of Cajun-French, German, and Italian families and a home life deeply rooted in her Dutch heritage.

Weekend ferry rides across the Mississippi River to the French Quarter exposed her to the sights, sounds, and artistry of French, African, and Cuban-American traditions. It was there that her appreciation for creativity began.

Now based in Birmingham, Alabama, Margaret works exclusively in clay, combining her early love of form with the influences of her upbringing. Each piece reflects a fusion of memory, heritage, and a lifelong connection to Southern culture.
